We call it the Festival of Light
The victory over the evil might
Joy and happiness, fun and laughter
Sounds of the bursting cracker
The poet calls it the beautiful night
Stars clearly seen and the sky so bright
With the flames of rockets that make wonderful signs
The beauty of flower pots that in streets align
Smell of good food lures the air
The festivities with neighbors we share
Deafening sounds of crackers bursting
All with joy and none hurting
This is the Diwali the poet wishes
All from his heart and hope none misses
To read this and be happy till the next year
